Terms of Service - Discord Daily Challenge Bot

1. Acceptance of Terms

By inviting and using the Discord Daily Challenge Bot ("the Bot") in your Discord server, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Bot.

2. Description of Service

The Discord Daily Challenge Bot provides automated campaign management and daily reminder messages to designated channels within Discord servers. The Bot allows server administrators to:

• Create and manage multiple challenge campaigns simultaneously
• Import challenge data from CSV files or Google Sheets
• Schedule campaign reminders with customizable dates and times
• Configure challenge start dates, end dates, and day tracking for each campaign
• Customize message templates and formatting options per campaign
• Manage notification settings (mentions, pinned messages, scheduled events)
• Add/remove channels for campaign-specific reminders
• Control campaign status (active, paused, draft)

3. User Responsibilities

3.1 Authorized Use

• You must be an administrator or have appropriate permissions in the Discord server where the Bot is installed
• You agree to use the Bot only for lawful purposes and in accordance with Discord's Terms of Service
• You are responsible for all activities that occur through your use of the Bot

3.2 Prohibited Activities

You agree NOT to:

• Use the Bot to spam, harass, or abuse other users
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the Bot
• Use the Bot in any way that violates Discord's Terms of Service or Community Guidelines
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Bot's systems or infrastructure
• Use the Bot to send malicious content or links
• Upload CSV files or link Google Sheets containing illegal, harmful, or inappropriate content
• Use the Bot to distribute copyrighted material without permission
• Link Google Sheets or upload CSV files that you do not have rights to use

3.3 Data Source Responsibilities

When using CSV uploads or Google Sheets integration:

• You are responsible for the content of your challenge data
• You must ensure all links in your challenges are safe and appropriate
• You retain ownership of your CSV files and Google Sheets content
• You grant the Bot permission to read and display your challenge data
• Google Sheets must be made publicly viewable for the Bot to access them
• You are responsible for maintaining access to your Google Sheets

4. Data Collection and Use

4.1 Information We Collect

The Bot collects and stores only the following information:

• Server ID (where the Bot is installed)
• Channel IDs (where campaigns are configured to post)
• Campaign data (names, schedules, settings, challenge content)
• Data source URLs (Google Sheets links or uploaded CSV content)
• User-configured settings (message formats, notification preferences per campaign)
• Administrator user IDs (for command authentication)

4.2 How We Use Information

Data collected is used solely to:

• Provide the Bot's core functionality (sending scheduled campaign reminders)
• Fetch challenge data from Google Sheets or process uploaded CSV files
• Authenticate administrator commands
• Maintain campaign configurations and settings
• Isolate data between different Discord servers (multi-tenant architecture)

5. Service Availability

5.1 Uptime

While we strive to maintain 99% uptime, the Bot is provided "as is" without guarantees of continuous, uninterrupted, or error-free service.

5.2 Maintenance

We reserve the right to:

• Temporarily suspend the Bot for maintenance
• Modify or discontinue features with reasonable notice
• Update the Bot to comply with Discord's API changes

5.3 No Warranty

THE BOT IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
• We are not liable for any loss of data, revenue, or profits arising from use of the Bot
• Our total liability shall not exceed $10 USD

7. Changes to Service

We reserve the right to:

• Modify these Terms at any time
• Add, modify, or remove features from the Bot
• Change or discontinue the Bot entirely

Changes to these Terms will be posted with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the Bot after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

8. Discord Terms Compliance

You acknowledge that:

• The Bot operates on Discord's platform and is subject to Discord's Terms of Service
• Discord may modify their API, which could affect the Bot's functionality
• We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Discord Inc.

9. Termination

9.1 By You

You may stop using the Bot at any time by removing it from your Discord server.

9.2 By Us

We reserve the right to:

• Terminate or suspend access to the Bot for violations of these Terms
• Remove the Bot from servers that violate Discord's Terms of Service
• Discontinue the Bot service with reasonable notice

10. Intellectual Property

The Bot, including its code, design, and functionality, is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute the Bot without explicit permission.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Bot operator from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from:

• Your use of the Bot
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any rights of another party

12. Dispute Resolution

12.1 Informal Resolution

Before pursuing formal legal action, you agree to first contact us to attempt informal resolution.

12.2 Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Maryland, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

14. Entire Agreement

These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Bot and supersede any prior agreements.
